Classical Guitar Technique “The Right Hand” by Jeffrey Thomas

Classical guitar technique is very structured and the student must be ready for the discipline of proper body posture, left hand placement, nail care, and most importantly The Right Hand details.  Most students who come to me for Skype classical guitar lessons are ready for the commitment.  They know the music is written in standard notation not tab and many have been inspired by hearing advanced classical guitarists play with flawless accuracy. Once the decision is made to move forward with lessons I suggest two books.  The Christopher Parkening Guitar Method Vol. 1 and The Student Repertoire book by John Mills.  We start in the Parkening book and hammer out the details.  I watch the student like a hawk and we start with planting the right hand, understanding the difference between free and rest stroke, adding the thumb etc all examples are done with a metronome and the technique must be solid before we move on.  I wanted to share a video with a gifted student of mine Leo Goran
